A Bit About Dr. Soule

Kathryn Soule, PhD, LPC is a licensed counselor specializing in EMDR therapy, IFS therapy, and mindfulness tools to help clients alleviate anxiety. Her client focus is women as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community. She received her bachelors degree in psychology from the University of Texas at Austin, her masters degree in psychology from Columbia University, and her doctorate in counseling from Texas Tech. Before starting a private practice in Fort Worth, she gained experience at Austin State Hospital, Roosevelt Hospital in New York, Safe Horizon emergency domestic violence shelter in Brooklyn, and a number of wonderful non-profit organizations in Fort Worth, The WARM Place, The Art Station, The Women's Center, and Trauma Support Services of North Texas. While living in New York, she co-authored a book chapter with Dr. Judy Kuriansky about the counseling model used in her nationally syndicated call-in radio show, Love Phones with Dr. Judy and Jagger.

Since returning to her native Texas, Dr. Soule has become a frequent speaker on using mindfulness theory and techniques with clients, having first discovered the power of the present through Buddhist meditation classes. She is a featured meditation teacher on the free mindfulness app Insight Timer, where her guided meditations have been listened to by thousands of people all over the world. She has given workshops and presentations to groups including the Texas Counseling Association, the Dallas Pediatric Society, and the Texas Association of Addiction Professionals. She continues to train other therapists to use mindfulness tools with ongoing workshops.

Dr. Soule has served on the faculty at Texas Tech as an adjunct professor teaching students in the graduate counseling program. She has also made a significant contribution to the growing body of research on EMDR therapy, conducting the first ever study to systematically analyze the content of EMDR sessions to identify how EMDR works with grief. She was interviewed for a feature in Voyage Dallas Magazine for a series about inspiring stories and rising stars of Fort Worth. In her free time, she enjoys daily walks, afternoon coffee, and swing dancing.

Are we a good fit?

I specialize in individual counseling for women as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community struggling with anxiety who want deep, lasting peace of mind. My ideal client is someone who is not looking for a band-aid, but rather looking to get to the roots of anxiety and find a path for authentic happiness. I do not work with children, couples, or families. I can help you find greater happiness, peace of mind, and freedom from stress and anxiety related to things like:

  • Stress (e.g. overwhelm with work, family relationships etc.)

  • Panic Attacks

  • Generalized Anxiety

  • PTSD or trauma (e.g. physical or sexual assault, natural disaster, car accident, illness or injury, pregnancy loss)

  • OCD (e.g. obsessive checking or washing)

  • Phobias or Fears such as flying, driving, public speaking, dogs, medical or dental anxiety

  • Childhood Issues (e.g. history of physical or sexual abuse, difficult family relationships)

I will teach you mindfulness tools to calm the mind in the present, while also clearing the roots of anxiety using cutting-edge EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) and IFS therapy (internal family systems) to rewire the brain. We don't just manage symptoms, together we find the deeper cause. Experience deep, transformative healing. Find true peace and meaning as the authentic person you were always meant to be. Get started today on your path toward genuine, lasting happiness.
