Therapy & Coaching for English-Speaking Expats
You don’t just want to cope.
You want to feel like yourself again.
Living abroad can feel harder than you expected
Living abroad can look exciting from the outside. But internally, it can feel very different. You might find yourself overthinking more than usual, second-guessing yourself, or questioning how you come across. Feeling less confident in situations that used to feel easy. There can be a quiet sense of disconnection, even when you are surrounded by people. You can be doing everything you can to build a life where you are, and yet things still feel off.
You may recognize yourself in this
- Overthinking conversations, decisions, or how you are perceived
- Feeling anxious in social or professional situations
- A sense of isolation, even when you are not alone
- Less confident or more self-critical than you used to be
- Feeling unsure of who you are in this new environment
- Wanting to feel at home, but not knowing how
What you actually want is something deeper
What you actually want is something deeper. To stop having the same anxious thoughts and reactions over and over again.
To feel calm, confident, and grounded in yourself.
To trust how you show up in your relationships, your work, and your day-to-day life.
To feel at home within yourself, even if everything around you is unfamiliar.
Our approach goes beyond coping
Most approaches to stress and anxiety focus on coping. Managing symptoms. Pushing through. That can help in the moment. But it often does not create lasting change. Our work is different. We focus on helping you move beyond coping and into a place where you feel grounded, clear, and fully yourself again. We use Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help you understand and work with the parts of you that drive anxiety, self-doubt, and overthinking. Kathryn also uses Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to help process the underlying experiences that keep certain patterns in place. This work is not about adding more tools. It’s about addressing the root of what’s keeping you stuck so the way you think, feel, and respond can actually shift.
This work is personal for us.
Through doing this kind of work ourselves, we have experienced what it is like to move from feeling anxious and uncertain to feeling more calm, clear, and connected. That experience shapes how how we show up with clients: grounded, curious, and focused on helping you reconnect with yourself, not just adapt to your environment.
